Rapper Nicki Minaj was briefly arrested and fined at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on Saturday after officials allegedly found "soft drugs" in her luggage, according to Dutch authorities.

The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, the Dutch national police agency, announced on social media Saturday night that a 41-year-old American woman had been arrested on suspicion of exporting soft drugs. She was fined and released from custody after consultations with local prosecutors, though the amount of the fine was not disclosed.

While Dutch police did not name Minaj, the rapper posted a video to social media detailing the incident. In the video, she explains that police told her they had allegedly found marijuana in her bags, which needed to be weighed. The video also shows a man in a suit explaining that police wanted to search all her luggage, suggesting skepticism about the amount of drugs Minaj claimed to have.

Cannabis is illegal in the Netherlands but tolerated for recreational use. In the video, police officers can be heard telling Minaj that she was "under arrest" for "carrying drugs" and instructing her to get into a van to go to the police station. Minaj, born Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, denied the allegations and repeatedly requested a lawyer before complying.

Before her release, Robert Kapel, a military police spokesman, told AFP that the interrogation was still ongoing. Representatives for Minaj and the Amsterdam police did not immediately respond to CBS News' request for comment.
Minaj had been in Amsterdam for a show at Ziggo Dome on Thursday and was on her way to Manchester, England, for another show on Saturday night as part of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour when the arrest occurred. The Manchester venue, Co-op Live, announced the show's postponement due to the incident.

"Despite Nicki's best efforts to explore every possible avenue to make tonight's show happen, the events of today have made it impossible," Co-op Live posted on social media. In a series of posts on X, Minaj claimed that the arrest was an attempt to "sabotage my tour," alleging financial misconduct by former associates who were fired and subsequently sought revenge.
