What Are the Symptoms of the New COVID-19 FLiRT Variant?

Covid-19
The new COVID-19 FLiRT variant family, including strains like KP.2 and JN.1.7, does not appear to cause symptoms significantly different from previous variants. The common symptoms remain fever, cough, fatigue, and loss of taste or smell. These variants have mutations that help them evade immunity but don't seem to cause more severe illness than their predecessors.
FLiRT variants have emerged from the JN.1 lineage and are spreading due to their ability to evade immune responses while maintaining their ability to infect cells. Current COVID-19 vaccines, especially those updated for recent variants, are expected to offer some protection against these new strains, particularly in preventing severe illness.
